Dublin | Cork

the present Cork Hebrew Congregation with an address of 10 South Terrace, where it is presently located.
The Jewish cemetery is maintained to a high standard and is located in Curraghkippane, a few miles outside the city. Of interest to many are the graves of Jewish people who perished in 1915, when the Lusitania was sunk off the coast of Kinsale by German torpedo.

Emigration has taken a huge toll, and the steady departure of the youth for far-off lands gradually denuded cork of its Jewish community. Today the synagogue only functions infrequently; services are held for the High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Chanukah and Pesach (Passover) are communally observed, and there are a number of unaffiliated Jews in the wider Cork area who support local efforts to revitalize the congregation. The Celtic Tiger economic boom has given Cork Jewry some hope of a revival and visitors and new residents are warmly welcomed.

The Shabbat service is held on the first Friday evening of the month, at the synagogue 10 South Terrace, and visitors are warmly welcomed.
